What is the CQC?
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Every organisation that provides personal care in people’s homes must be registered with the CQC, meet its fundamental standards, and open its doors to inspection. Ratings are published for everyone to read, Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate.
What regulation means for your family
- Independent scrutiny: inspectors assess whether a service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
- Enforceable standards: from safe recruitment (DBS checks, references) to medication management and safeguarding.
- Transparency: inspection reports are public, so you can verify any provider before you commit. We encourage you to read ours.
