Where Do I Start?

Arranging care can feel daunting, therefore this page walks you through the whole journey.

Step 1

Do we actually need care?

Common signs: struggling with washing or dressing, missed medication, weight loss, a fall (or near-misses), loneliness, or a family carer running on empty. If several feel familiar, some support (even an hour or two a week) usually helps more than families expect.

Step 2

What kind of care exists?

Care at home ranges from a 30-minute daily visit to full live-in support. It covers personal care, medication, meals, company, nights and specialist conditions, mixed however your situation needs.

Step 3

How do I judge quality?

Check the provider’s CQC registration and rating (ours is Good), ask how care staff are vetted and trained, and trust your instincts in the first conversation: were you listened to, or sold to?

Step 4

What will it cost?

Home care is priced by the hours you actually use, and help exists, council funding, NHS routes and benefits like Attendance Allowance. Our Costs & Funding guide explains it all in plain English.
